Four veteran of the Berlin Jazz scene will join again for a very special evening, presenting a swinging and creative well balanced blend of famous Themes from the great Film history composers like Michel Legrand, Ennio Morricone, Henry Mancini, Nino Rota/Fellini, Bernard Hermann/Hitchcock, Alex North, Disney for a evening of creative Jazz and famous themes. The four Jazz soloists are playing together since many years in different groups and always guarantee a wonderful evening of beautiful music.

WALTER GAUCHEL-saxophone and flute, einer der besten Saxophonisten Deutschlands, war er Mitglied des Vienna Art Orchestra und des Orchesters des Theaters des Westens, Berlin. Als Solist war er beim RIAS Tanzorchester (später RIAS Big Band) angestellt und spielte dort zusammen mit Dave Brubeck, Lee Konitz, Toots Thielemans, Clark Terry, Natalie Cole, Alexander von Schlippenbach, Axel Dörner, Aki Takase, u. a.

EKKEHARD WÖLK und ANDREA MARCELLI arbeiten zusammen, seit 15 Jahren die Aufnahme sieben Alben zusammen. Sie gerade in einem ausverkauften Mariinsky Theater in St. Petersburg spielte für den deutschen Woche in Russland. Sie zusammengeführt, auch bei der 2010 New Delhi / Indien Seher Jazz Festival, das Tallinn / Estland Jazzkaar Festival, Oslo, Prague und im Jahr 2012 und ’13 an der Glinka Philharmonie St. Petersbourg für das Goethe-Institut, auch beim Bachfest in Leipzig, Würzburg und Weichmar, der Kurt-Weill- Festival Dessau, Händelhaus Halle, Kempten Jazz Festival und viele andere. Auch sie für den MDR (TV) ARTE /ZDF, Festival, RBB Radio Kultur, Bayerischer Rundfunk Radio, Deutschlandradio, Bonn, WDR Radio und Fernsehen und dem Italienischen Kulturgeführt Institutes of Berlin, Wolfsburg, Köln und das Goethe-Institut in Oslo, Prague, New Delhi, Brussels und St. Petersburg.

JONATHAN ROBINSON – bass
has enriched already countless albums and bands. He has performed with many artists including Jerry Bergonzi, Bob Moses, Matt Maneri, Archie Shepp, George Garzone, Rick Margitza, Marcus Belgrave, Jeff „Tain“ Watts, John Tchicai, David Gilmore, Daniel Carter, Onaje Alan Gumbs, Gene Bertoncini.
With the first CD under his name he is stepping in the footprints of the great bassists/composers in Jazz . In short: Jonathan Robinson plays himself on Spatial Stasis and in this way creates his own musical universe for himself – and for his musicians and audience: Out of space, deep into space, real in motion. As you like it. Let yourself be seduced!“

Drummer/composer ANDREA MARCELLI moved to the USA in 1989, spending eight years in Los Angeles and four in New York City. He has resided in Berlin since 2001. Two of his tunes are included in both “The European Real Book“ and “The Digital Real Book part 2“. He is leading an active international musical life, performing with Wayne Shorter, Don Menza, Allan Holdsworth, Mike Stern, Bob Mintzer, Eddie Gomez, Ralph Towner, Eberhard Weber, Markus Stockhausen, Palle Danielsson, John Patitucci, Mike Mainieri, Hiram Bullock, Frank Gambale, Andy Summers and others. He recorded many albums and two critical acclaimed Cds with legendary Major Label Verve/PolyGram.

5th „Desire for Spring“ Jazz Week 29.März – 2.April
Join us at the magic 5th „Desire for Spring Jazz week“, 29. März – 2. April during the Easter vacation at the Kunstfabrik Schlot!
Five different journeys of music dialogues, dynamics, passion, rhythms and colors of Jazz. Accomplished drummer/composer Andrea Marcelli will bring some of the best soloists of the Berlin Jazz scene.  Each evening a different mood and genre.
Opening concert 29.03 with the trio of the two virtuoso pianist Ekkehard Wölk and Roberto Badoglio.
On 30.03 a quartet with refined pianist Tino Derado and creative saxophonist Peter Ehwald featuring Bill Evans favorite songs. On 31.04 Cinema meets Jazz with a quartet featuring giant saxophonist Walter Gauchel. On 01.04 a special Hammond Organ + vibes Quartet with warm and swinging guitarist Giorgio Crobu. Closing concert on 02.04 featuring one of Europe’s premier free jazz pianist Alexander von Schlippenbach.
The musicians will bring their own colors representing different cultures and sensitivities, all together here in Berlin at Schlot!!  Jazz rearrangements of famous composers and all kind of original compositions and moods.
