Contemporary jazz and improvised music

Mircea Tiberia is an emblematic figure of Romanian jazz, with a prodigious musical and academic career. He plays an influential role in the jazz scene and as author of many theoretical studies and essays, fosters its development on the theoretical level as well. Along his 40 year career Tiberian has played with top ranking jazz musicians such as Larry Coryell, Tomasz Stanko, Herb Robertson, John Betsch, Ed Shuller, Nicolas Simion, Adam Pieronczik, Christian Lillinger, Daniel Erdmann and many others. Educated in the classical tradition, the pianist followed the energetic and
intellectual line of instrumental expressivity established by McCoy Tyner and Thelonious Monk in developing his specific instrumental voice. His sound combines the clarity of tone with suggestive elusiveness that results in a perfectly balanced inner dynamism.

Oliver Potratz – Bass has 40 recordings to his credit and has worked with among others Rolando Villazon, Thomas Stanko, Gitte Haenning, Rolf Kühn, David Friedman, John Schröder, Jiggs Wigham.
In 2008 he won the german jazz award with the band „Klima Kalima“ and in 2009 the second prize with the Carsten Daerr Trio. Since 2016 he has been the director of the German-Afghan safar-project which originated at the University of Music Franz Liszt Weimar.

Tilo Weber studied drums at the Jazz Institut Berlin from 2009 to 2014. Collaborations with Greg Cohen, Peter Brötzmann, David Friedman, Rudi Mahall, Chris Dahlgren and Tobias Siebert bring him to the national stage (JazzBaltica Festival) and international

Jazz Rock / Jazz Fusion

Brave Noises is a young, innovative band formed of ambitious Lithuanian Jazz musicians that can stylistically adapt, yet emphasise their authenticity.
Synthesis of Free Jazz, Folk, World Music and Alternative Rock creates a unique musical image – bold sounds and rhythmic patterns show the diversity of Brave Noises’ influences, as well as emphasise virtuosity and ingenuity of their works. Evoked emotions and surreal visions in their music act as a musical therapy, while unexpected dissonances appear in the shape of a musical force majeure.

‚Brave Noises create an impression of being in a space cabin under a starry night sky, while a beeping satellite passes you by the window. … The band’s musical language is focused, and its powerful expressiveness interacts with fragile lyricism. … as if listening to crackling embers and the stormy North Sea in the same composition. An unexpected, refreshing experience … with its own style, presence and drive.‘
– Bent Stenbakken, Kulturem

‚ … a record of particular subtlety and quality. … Post-rock, minimalism and Scandinavian jazz reflects only a fragment of this band’s musical picture.‘
– Vitalijus Gailius, about the Live EP, Music Information Centre Lithuania
