Contemporary Mediterranean Jazz

Four soloists coming from the Mediterranean sea, mixing
colors and rhythms, from Italy and Greece, with contemporaryJazz and Soul. The band, which is part of the prolific Berlin Jazz Scene, includes refined vibraphonist Alessandro Di Puccio from Florence, talented guitarist Iakovos Symeonidis from Athen, virtuoso bassista Roberto Badoglio from Trieste and dynamic drummer Andrea Marcelli from Rome. They will present an interesting blend of original compositions and famous standards from Jazz History. The Quartet will convey harmony and bring to everybody a beautiful message of peace through their music

ALESSANDRO DI PUCCIO,  VIBRAPHONIST
From the early ’80s, he has played in the most important clubs, festivals and exhibitions in Italy and Europe, with jazz and world music musicians, like: Toots Thielemans, Albert Mangelsdorff, Mal Waldron, Stefano Bollani, Antonello Salis, Sal Nistico, Massimo Urbani, Tiziana Ghiglioni, Pietro Tonolo, Gianluigi Trovesi, Marco Tamburini, Paolo Birro, The Musipolitana orchestra, Bruno Tommaso, Enrico Pieranunzi, Luca Flores, Gianni Cazzola, Fabio Morgera, Franco D’Andrea, Larry Nocella, Rita Marcotulli, Alberto Marsico and SCOTT HAMILTON,

He has conducted and written compositions and arrangements for jazz orchestras and music for theatrical works.
He has founded together with other artists (photographers, musicians, painters and video makers) the Collective Fu.Ori.
They have been presented on numerous occasions including editions of the Florentine Jazz Festival “Settembre in Piazza della Passera” of which Alessandro is the artistic director since 2001.
He has held seminars on Improvisation in jazz in several Italian music schools and Conservatories.
From 1986 to 2017 he was the Teaching Director of the Jazz School Centro Attività Musicali and from 1986 to 2003 also of the Municipal Jazz School of Scandicci (FI) and the Jazz Department of the Accademia Musicale in Florence and the Silence JAM Arts Centre in Florence.

ROBERTO BADOGLIO – Bassist born in 1984 in Trieste, Italy.
Bassist virtuoso Badoglio, won several musical contests in Italy such as Summer Music in 1998 , Rosa Rock in 1999 and Pagella Rock in 2001. In 2004,
He won in north Italy “ Bass contest” for the second year.
He lived in Boston to study at the BERKLEE COLLEGE OF MUSIC.
Roberto lived in New York in 2007 and studied there with Dominique Di Piazza and Matthew Garrison. He played with Joanne Brackeen, Virgil Donati, Steve Hunt, Marko Djordjevic, Bjoessi Kluetsch and saxophonist Seamus Blake.
He was invited to the “European Bass Day” where he performed with Marcus Miller. In 2009 he decided to move back to Europe, in Berlin, where he is still resident and very active. At the moment he’s involved in several musical projects also internationally.

IAKOVOS SYMEONIDIS is a jazz guitarist from Athens, Greece based in Berlin, Germany. He is performing with different projects and currently working on his debut album. Studium der klassischen Gitarre am Nationalen Konservatorium von Athen (Diplom). Teilnahme an Gitarren Seminaren, Meisterkursen und Wettbewerben, bei denen er dreimal Preisträger wurde. Iakovos Symeonidis schloss im Juni 2019 sein Studium am Prins Claus Conservatorium in Groningen, Niederlande ab (Bachelor of Jazz Guitar). Über das Programm „New York Comes to Groningen“ des Konservatoriums spielte er mit verschiedenen amerikanischen Gast Lehrern wie Todd Coleman, Spike Wilner, Dave Stryker, Freddie Bryant, Paul Bollenback und Jonathan Kreisberg und nahm bei ihnen Einzelunterricht. 

ANDREA MARCELLI – Drummer/composer born in Rome, Italy.
He moved to the USA in 1989 spending 8 years in Los Angeles
and 4 in New York. He is, since 2001, resident in Berlin/Germany.
He performed and/or recorded with Wayne Shorter, Don Menza,
David Liebman, Bob Mintzer, Harold Land, Markus Stockhausen,
Eddie Gomez,  Mike Stern, Mitchel Forman, Allan Holdsworth,
Bob Berg, John Patitucci, Eberhard Weber, Alphonso Johnson,
Jeff Berlin, Palle Danielsson, Arild Anderson, Mike Mainieri,
Bob Sheppard, Frank Gambale, Hiram Bullock, Andy Summers,
Rick Margitza,  and others.
During his career he performed in USA, Japan, India, Brazil, South Africa,
Zimbabwe, Mozambique, Tunisia, Italy, Germany, England, Spain, Denmark,
Sweden, Norway, Russia, Estonia, France, Belgium, Finland, Luxembourg,
Lebanon and others. Andrea recorded many CDS and two acclaimed solo CDs for legendary Major Jazz Label VERVE/PolyGram with his original compositions. He graduated in 1986 from the L. Refice Conservatory in Frosinone (Rome) in Classical Clarinet, Jazz Composition and Arrangement.
Two of Andrea’s compositions are included in „The European Real Book“
and „The Digital Real Book part two“ by www.shermusic.com.
Andrea has more than 200 of his compositions recorded in CDs and
broadcasted world-wide.

thought-provoking as today’s events. Andrea is such a chameleon.
When I first heard his music, it struck me that he played drums,
clarinet, percussion, keyboards and composed in a variety of styles
that defied classification, moreover, his display of sensitivity and
creative approach to the work produced.“
